Zoom Demon, Cavegirl of the Month for May ‘05!
Zoom Demon and I had a chance to meet at her favorite arcade in Cali where we gulped on fruit smoothie drinks and watched the kids next to us on the DDR dance pad. This is what she had to say:
Zoom was born in Fresno CA on September 16th, 1982 (Virgo). I think she must have been born with a gaming controller in her hands!
So, Zoom, are you married or single?
I am single. Looking for a MAN SLAVE.
Where did you grow up?
Born and raised in Fresno, CA. I love California too much, I don’t think I will ever live anywhere else. But I love to travel.
Favorite color?
She said Blue and Black, or was that black and blue?
Gaming Questions
How long have you been gaming?
I’ve been playing video games most of my life. Either in the arcades, consoles, or PC. My first system was a nintendo when I was about 10 years old. I currently own, a nintendo, SNES, N64, GameCube, PS1, PS2, and xbox of course.
What got you started / Why do you like gaming?
Well, I guess what started me to become an obsessed gamer is when we had Marathon 2 installed on our computer. I played that game day and night. It was the first, first person shooter I ever played and fell in love with that type of game. I eneded up playing the entire Marathon series over and over. When I finally got a good PC of my own, I played as many first person shooters as I could. I like gaming because it gives me an escape and a break from the real world. I also like the rush of having to fight a lot of enemies at once and trying to stay alive. It is very exciting when you come out alive. Also, it is good practice for when the aliens do come and invade the earth.
What is your favorite game?
Halo 2! And DDR! I also like the Sim City series, and the Commandos series. First person shooter besides Halo, Serious Sam. That game is silly awesome! And very frantic.
What is your favorite Halo2 gametype?
I love King of the Hill and Oddball. Not many do, but it is a nice break from just running around killing each other. I love beating people down with the ball.
What is your favorite dual wielding combo?
After the update, I rarely duel wield anymore. Before the update, I almost always duel wielded SMG and magnum or SMG and Plasma Rifle. Quite deadly if you got them in the head.
Favorite Map?
That is a tough one because I like most of them for different reasons. Midship, because of all the sticky gernades and it almost always becomes a sticky fest. Turf because of all its random alleys, hallways, and rooms, there are lots of places to hide. Lockout because of its randomness. I like Headlong for CTF games. I’m starting to like Warlock more and more now for slayer and oddball games.
Who do you like to play with the most?
I’m always playing with Jaymine and RaHikaru. I love when we play with our crazy guy friends who are so witty and funny, they just make the game even more enjoyable. I like playing not caring if we win or lose, but just to have fun!
What is your least favorite game/gametype Halo or otherwise?
I am not a fan of RPGs. I could never get into them and I have tried playing a few. I am just too impatient for those types of games. My least favorite gametype on Halo is neutral bomb, esspecially on Coagulation.
How long have you been a member of the cave?
I’ve been a member since January of this year.
Tell about how you found the Cave.
I saw a link in Autumn’s signature, and I had been looking for a group of girls to play with, so I clicked, and I joined!
Hobbies other than gaming?
Traveling and music. I love music a lot, and own hundreds of CDs. I love going to concerts and I have seen hundreds of bands. My favorite band to see live is Rammstein, with all their fire, it is awesome. I have even managed to get backstage at a few concerts and have met some cool bands. My favorite backstage experience was with Maynard of Tool. He was just a really cool guy and talked with us for about an hour. I go to concerts all the time, all over California. The last concert I went to was Chemical Brothers and New Order in San Francisco on April 29th, really cool show
I played guitar for about 5 years during and after high school, but haven’t played in about 2 years. I really would like to start playing again, but I’m just too busy playing Halo… hahaha!
Best Buy Halo 2 Tournament in Bakersfield.
This was my very first gaming tournament I entered on May 7th 2005. I was really nervous about it, and like the good friends they are, Ra and Jay encouraged me and even helped me train for it. They said 256 people would be participating, but I think only about 100 or so people actually showed up. First round, it was 8 players at a time free-for-all rumple pit style. Battle Rifles to start on Beaver Creek, first to 50 or winner in 8 minutes. Since I was the only female playing in the Halo 2 tournament, I drew a crowd. Which actually helped me out, because I had people cheering me on so it gave me confidence. First round, I came in 2nd place. The top 4 players moved onto the next round. In the 2nd round, it was the same gametype, 8 player free-for-all rumple pit style. Battle Rifles to start on Lockout. I ended up coming in 4th place, but it was a close game between the top 4 players. The top 4 players got to move onto the 3rd round. They started doing head to head matches since there were not that many of us left. I got pitted against this guy named Pandaer or something. It was a head to head match on Midship. Battle Rifles to start, not allowed to use sword or plasma pistol. I ended up losing that round 15 to 7. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I did a lot better than I expected I would do. My goal was to get past the first round, and I accomplished more than that! I will definitely enter more tournaments if they are available, it was really fun.
Thank you Zoom for all of your excellenceness! We are so proud of you!
